I was just revisiting my 101 things in 1,001 days and I was surprised at how many are accomplished. I have completed 23 of those tasks, some of which were wonderful to cross of the list like buying a new bed and watching all the seasons of Lost. Speaking of Lost, the season premiere is on ABC tonight! But, I digress. I hadn’t looked at my list for about two months. Now I look at it and feel like some of the items are a bit far-fetched. For example, I don’t know if I’ll get to visit Europe or Africa in the next two years. Five years, I’d say yes, but two years? Not sure. Also, I know that Adam and I would love to get to NYC to see the Mets before Shea stadium is demolished, but that would have to be this summer and I’m not seeing it fit into our plans. Honestly, that makes me quite sad. I wish I had taken him to a game when we lived in Rochester and New York was just about six hours away. At any rate, progress is progress–only 77 more tasks to go!
Yesterday, we got the last little bit to the new place and cleaned up the old. Our vacuum cleaner is about to die, which is good considering we have all hardwood floors in the new house and will be sweeping rather than vacuuming. Penny’s having a hard time adjusting to city sounds and I think she’s developed a fear that we’ll never come back for her. Hopefully she’ll be better within the week. We still have a ridiculous amount of unpacking to do, as well as purging the junk we haven’t used or seen in over a year. It’s sad to say that we threw stuff into an unused room at the old place and never saw it or used it in the entire 14 months we lived there. What a waste.
Adam’s grandparents are visiting this weekend. It should be fun and include several good meals out. Then it’s Mardi Gras next week. Should be a good time (I hope).
Adam and I had a great weekend. We bought a queen-size bed (finally!) on Saturday, which was long, long overdue. We’ve been talking about ditching our full-size bed for a new one since we got married 2 1/2 years ago. It was quite a momentous purchase. We also packed more of our stuff, napped a bit and went to the gym. Yesterday we went to the diner for breakfast, packed some more, then Adam had to work a few parades in Mobile and I kept packing. Around 3:30 I went to visit him and we split a burger at Heroes with several other firefighters who were working the parade. Last night I wrote out new address cards and watched Friends until I fell asleep. All in all, fabulous weekend.
And tomorrow is the big moving day. One of Adam’s friends backed out of helping us tomorrow, so I have to take half a day off of work. Tonight I have to finish packing what’s left–dishes, mostly. I also rented Away From Her and hope to be done packing early enough to watch it.
Somehow this week is already spent, at work and at home. Should be a pretty easy one though. And, of course, the Lost season premiere is this Thursday. Yay!
Check out these old Adidas running ads. Hil-arious!
The schedule for the New Orleans Jazz Festival is up, but I’m disappointed. There isn’t anyone I really want to see, unlike last year when we were too broke to go. Oh well. There’s always Bayfest.
I followed a link that led me to foundmagazine.com. It’s full of notes and pictures that people found randomly, most of which are hilarious (some of which are disturbing). It’s worth clicking through, especially on a Friday.
This week has very much been a blur, and I’m exhausted (which I hate to be, though always am at this point in the week). I feel like I haven’t gotten much accomplished at work–mostly due to meetings and running around town–or at home. We’re supposed to be moving on Tuesday, which means this weekend there will be much packing at the Crandall home. Hopefully we will also see Cloverfield.
Today Adam went to the new place with Penny to wait for someone to come turn on the gas. He said it was very cold in there and, since there’s no furniture or anything in there, he was very bored. Of course it doesn’t help that the weather’s been miserable, but what else can you expect from January. He did say, though, that he’s already been receiving mail there somehow. I was amused by that.
I am glad tomorrow’s Friday. I’m hoping to meet Vicki for lunch and spend the evening relaxing since Adam will be working. I’ve been watching Season 4 of Six Feet Under, which has been intense, but I’m having a hard time understanding why there are only two episodes on some of the discs when every other one hour program fits four. Does this make sense? I didn’t think so.
Today, I ate breakfast while watching the announcement for the Academy Awards nominees. I haven’t seen many of the films nominated (and not for lack of wanting to) and I’m pleased to see that Juno, which I adored, earn quite a few nominations. On the flip side, the Razzies nominees (the anti-Oscars) were announced yesterday and include quite a few films I wouldn’t be caught dead watching, except for I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry which I admit to liking.
I am very much looking forward to this weekend, though I’m extremely envious of folks who have a long weekend due to MLK Jr. Day. These are my NY friends and family who live in a place where Martin Luther King, Jr. is more highly revered than Mardi Gras (ironically, though, because of King’s famous march on Selma, AL). I suppose when February 5th rolls around and I have the day off, all of these people may envy me. I also suppose I’ll never really know the answer to that. Oh well.
I don’t have much planned for this weekend–going to the gym, having a Blockbuster night, writing post-Christmas cards, and maybe going to Barnes & Noble since they sent me a 25% off coupon and I cannot resist book-buying. Oh, and I guess we’ll be doing some packing too, since we hope to move most of our stuff to the new place next weekend. (Have I mentioned that I can’t wait for this?!) Mostly, I’d like to go see Cloverfield though I’m doubting this will be the weekend for that. The reviews I’ve read for this movie have been, for the most part, intriguing.
Only 2 1/2 hours till it’s the weekend. Enjoy!
This line from JCrew for dogs is a little ridiculous but so cute. I admit this made me say, “Awww,” more than once (especially the picture for the Pique Dog Polo).
Well, I survived week one of my new job, and it’s into week two. I was very tired last week and it’s trickled into this week, even though I’ve been trying to get to bed before 10 o’clock every night. The job is great, though. We’re working to hammer out details of the next issue now, which is exhaustive but enthralling. I love bouncing ideas around and seeing what creative minds can come up with. This should be an interesting couple of months.
This weekend was pretty relaxing, as Adam and I watched many, many episodes of Lost season 3 and lots and lots of football. Sunday I had a bridal show to attend in Mobile and then hit the gym. We also started packing for our move at the end of the month. I can’t wait. The week after we move in is Mardi Gras, so we should be able to just walk a few blocks to see the parades. Adam and I haven’t really gotten in to the whole Mardi Gras thing since we’ve lived here, though it’s a very big deal. Mardi Gras originated in Mobile, and there’s a lot of history involved in their celebration. And it’s not like New Orleans where every woman is showing her breasts for beads. Everyone here calls it “family friendly.”.
