Garfield minus Garfield gives a whole new take on the familiar comic. Jon is a total wacko without his kitty [and may be with him, too].

Because I’m an English nerd, I very much appreciate spelling and grammar humor. So when I came across this aptly titled “Cover Letters from Hell”, I fell out of my chair laughing. It’s kind of lengthy, but worth scrolling through the whole thing. Here’s a sample:

Skills: Microst word, excel, and power point. Mulitaks person, public speaking, and surveying.
Professional Associations
Chairwomen of Studnts Teaching Awareness and Responsibility organization
Responsible for research of all 10 event topics, coordinating all campus chiarpersons.” [Editor’s note: Despite the many obvious limitations of SpellCheck, isn’t it worth at least a try … for instance, while you Mulitaks with the other chiarpersons?]

Enjoy. (HT: Deb)

This video is actually a song someone put together using only sounds from Windows 98 and XP. Enjoy.

Since I left my book home and couldn’t read today during my lunch break, I did a little research on my favorite new show Lost and found some interesting websites. First, the following commercial was aired during Eli Stone after Lost. Take a gander.

In this “commercial” are two websites that both lead to the same thing–an interactive extra “game” to give clues about the show. If you like Lost and find yourself with a bit of time on your hands, you may want to peruse these. Otherwise, feel free to disregard this post as complete nonsense and call me a fanatic.

The schedule for the New Orleans Jazz Festival is up, but I’m disappointed. There isn’t anyone I really want to see, unlike last year when we were too broke to go. Oh well. There’s always Bayfest.

I followed a link that led me to foundmagazine.com. It’s full of notes and pictures that people found randomly, most of which are hilarious (some of which are disturbing). It’s worth clicking through, especially on a Friday.

I just took this quiz on Entertainment Weekly’s site. Turns out I’m Isaac: “You are a creative person who uses art as an outlet for coping with what the world throws at you. You may have a tortured soul, but through your pain you will help the world.”

Silly, I know.

Today is National Punctuation Day! Be sure to pick up a copy of Eats, Shoots & Leaves.

Good morning and happy Labor Day! I am exhausted today after this weekend. We were on the road for 10 1/2 hours yesterday to watch a 3 hour baseball game. We were up by 5 (after I couldn’t fall asleep until after 1!) and on the road at 5:30. I read rough drafts on the way up there, though I was so tired. The game was not bad, and we did our usual wander around the park and watch the game from everywhere routine. The Braves lost to the Mets, as usual, but I’m glad we got a chance to go to a game this year. On the way home, though, we decided that next year we’re going to a night game and staying over somewhere because all that driving in one day is too hard.

We’re both extremely tired today even though we went to be around 9 last night. I decided to stay home today to do work (aka. read more rough drafts, plan class this week, and read grants) until Vicki’s party at 4. Adam also has decided not to go to his study group today because he doesn’t want to go all the way to West Mobile. Plus we haven’t had a chance to shop yet and some laundry has to get done before it inevitably rains this afternoon.

By the by, the weather was great in Atlanta. It was mid-80s and breezy. When we got back home, it was humid as heck. We spent much of our drive home discussing where we want to move next, namely Portland. We also spent a lot of time trying to remember states and capitals (10 1/2 is a long time!). Here’s a map in case you’ve forgotten Montana, Wyoming, New Hampshire, and South Carolina:

I read this article today with tips to get your butt out of bed earlier. I like #7 but not #23.

Oh, and happy September! Fall’s almost here. 🙂

I just found the greatest RSS Reader. I’m sure I’m way behind the times, but Google Reader is a million times better than the reader I was using on My Yahoo. Also, it actually plays podcasts, which I have been playing around with and listening to all morning instead of working. I did get pics up on the website from last week’s luncheon and now have to work on updating the mailing list. Looks like another chance to listen to podcasts. Hooray for technology!

Note to self: Try podcasting.
